Super Charge Your Stress Management

Super Charge Your Stress Management

It’s already mid- October. The holidays are approaching at an accelerated rate. Before you know it, you will be eating a grand Thanksgiving dinner. In December, you will be watching family and friends open Christmas gifts.
The holiday celebrations do bring joy, laughs and good times. But along the way, unnecessary stress can decrease the euphoric feelings that are supposed to engulf the atmosphere. Stress comes from the additional financial burdens of buying food, gifts and travel. Also the thought of being around distant family and friends for an extended amount of time produces stressors and nervousness that you dread.

Now is the time to put your defense mechanisms in place for the upcoming holiday hodgepodge so that you enjoy the occasions as intended. Proactive techniques that are intentionally implemented reduce stress. You want the holidays to produce memories of joy that will be shared for many years to come.

Stress Reduction Tip #1:
Set boundaries. Boundaries lessen the likelihood of stress by setting limits of what you will and will not allow. Put a budget in place of the amount that you can afford to spend over the holidays. Also set a limit on the amount of time to spend with family and friends. Most importantly, stick to your plan and do not let others talk you out of your comfort zone. If you feel comfortable with sharing your boundaries with others, go for it, so that the pressure (which causes even more stress) to participate in stressful situations will be decreased.

Stress Reduction Tip #2:
Implement relaxation and meditation techniques throughout the holiday season. If you already practice some techniques on a regular basis, crank it up 10x more to reduce holiday blues. One great technique to relax is breathing in deeply through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. To make the feeling even more stress free, try closing your eyes while exhaling and add some aroma therapy of peppermint and lavender scents.
While watching your budget for the holiday, include a treat for yourself by investing in a few yoga classes. Yoga such as Ashtanga and Hatha promote stress reducing movements for more relaxation and calm. Yoga puts your mind, body and soul into a harmonious synchrony that impacts stress reduction.

Stress Reduction Tip #3:
Writing helps alleviate stress by freeing your mind of the tension that you have built up. Journaling allows you to get all of your stress out on paper and out of your mind. The best part of journaling is that it is informal so you do not have to worry about grammar or sentence structure.
Poetry and song writing reduces stress and allows for your creative flow to shine through. Creative writing contributes to alleviating emotional stressors by replacing them with cathartic feelings. Also you are more likely to explore the underlying cause of your stress and discover additional personalized remedies to reduce stress.

Don’t let stress ruin your festive holiday time. Enjoy the happiness and peace that Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons represent. Think ahead of stress. Create a stress management action plan now rather than later. Let the best gift to yourself going into the New Year be a calm, festive stress free experience to end the year.

How is Your Self- Control?

How is Your Self- Control?

My brother did it, not me. The bus came late. My mother’s cat ate my homework. The devil made me do it. I could not finish school because the teacher did not like me. These are some of the classic excuses heard when situations in life do not turn out in a favorable way.
The real culprit behind most of the challenges experienced in life result from a lack of self– control. If you admit and come to terms with the premise that you are in control of your destiny. You choose to do it. You didn’t arrive early enough to catch the bus. You didn’t complete your homework. Your bad decision caused a bad result. You didn’t try hard enough to finish school.
Defeat your lack of self- control and move into a direction of fulfilling your desires and goals in life. But watch out for the signs that demonstrate you have no self- control.

Warning Sign #1: You have a hard time focusing on tasks.
If you have issues with concentrating while reading, studying, working or making decisions. You lack self- control. Fix this issue by practicing meditation. Meditation trains your mind and body to tune into each other. Synchronizing your mind and body to interact together in harmony and peace strengthens your self- control.

Warning Sign #2: When hungry, you grab the first item in sight upon entering the kitchen.
Monitoring your meals and snacks means you are in control of yourself. Sticking to an eating schedule decreases impulsive food intake which usually consists of sugary and starchy food choices. Have a supply of healthy snacks accessible such as fruits, nuts and crackers to keep your flesh and mind aligned and under control.

Warning Sign #3: You harbor feelings of disgust, shame and hatred for something that happened in the past.
Exercising self- control exists when forgiveness of any past hurts are set free. Forgive yourself and others so that you can control your emotions and feelings which in turn lets you control your actions. Center your attention on moving forward and improving your life in the future. You do not want the past to keep you stuck.

Okay! It’s time for a heart to heart self- analysis. Do you possess any of the symptoms that define a lack of self- control? If you do, it is time to reconstruct your composure and regain dominance over your body and mind.

How to Be Objective About Your Relationship

How to Be Objective About Your Relationship

Have you been wondering what you can do to mend a broken relationship? Relationships come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. You have relationships with family, friends, coworkers, significant others, church members and club members. This list is just a few of the many types of relationships you encounter.  no matter the dynamic of the relationship, you always desire and wonder how to get the severed bond back intact.

Rebuilding relationships require you to complete a few objectives. The main goal is to develop a mindset of renewal and leverage of complacency with the relationship. Sometimes relationships are irreparable but being at peace with the status especially if you tried is important.
Check out these 3 main objectives to mending your relationship:

Objective #1:
To rebuild your ideal relationship, you have to know what you want and how you want to get it back. Visualization can place you exactly into the relationship you desire. you might think it is wishful thinking, but visualization has benefits.
Visualization is synonymous with the notion that seeing is believing. Visualizing brings your desires from the subconscious to the consciousness of reality. You might think the process is senseless, but try it and visualize yourself doing the impossible when it comes to your relationship.

 Objective #2:
Surround yourself with the people who exhibit the traits of the way you want your relationship to be. Use the right people to be your role models. Don’t just look and observe, actually put forth the effort to use some of the steps of connections that you see.
For example, if you are working on a not so pleasant relationship at work, shadow someone who has a great bond with coworkers. Observe how the person gets along well with others at work. watch the body language that is displayed by the person that everyone at work admires.

Objective #3:
Stop denying the obvious. Your relationship is messed up and needs to be worked on. When exercising visualization and shadowing, Don’t forget to face the real deal of what the relationship was before going into the reparation stage. You can’t fix what you don’t realize needs fixing.
Have a true heart to heart conversation with yourself and the other person. Be serious and mature about fixing the relationship if you really want to rebuild it. The only way to bring truth into rebuilding a relationship is by combating the denial of nothing is wrong.
