Power
of a Voice
The power of a
voice is a common theme that we as counselors run across in our
field. I recall my own inner revelation of a stifled voice during my chaplaincy
residency at Memorial Hermann. Some people fall on the other side of the
spectrum due to their family of origin. Our family of origin often becomes our
first teacher and influences how we use our voice. Our voice is either
empowered or dismissed. With this being said, cultural values can also play a
major role in how we use our voice. Furthermore, we are uniquely designed human
beings who are in part a product of our environment. Nonetheless, we must
realize the impact of an empowered or stifled voice. A stifled voice will leave
a generation with no power or purpose, but an empowered voice will raise up a
nation. An empowered voice also will birth a nation who speaks. I encourage you
to journal some times throughout the week and write down opportunities where
you failed to speak or you did. Journal the results!

What do you do when you truly don't know what to do. Where to go when you don't know where you're going. How to feel as though you're enough when all you feel is inadequate. Whatever you do, DON'T GIVE UP! For EVERYTHING we need is found in the word of God. Ask me how I know, I've been there but God is a deliverer. Phil 4:6
