Dealing With Self-Confidence When You’re Obese

Dealing With Self-Confidence When You’re Obese

Overweight and obese people are often criticized for being fat. You’ve probably heard hurtful words like: “You’re ugly, You eat too much, You’ll die young and We don’t have your size.” These words hurt your self-esteem, they can sometimes cause depression and you start slipping into bad eating habits.

There are days where you might hate yourself and you don’t like who you see in the mirror. You can’t continue drowning in the pool of self-hate and eating disorders forever. You have to face the world and embrace body positivity. Whether you want to start working out or eating healthy, you need to do so with confidence.

For a healthier and more realistic body image, you need to:

FIRST

Surround yourself with positive people. Be with people who motivate you and avoid those who consistently criticize and make fun of others. Their negative energy can rub off on you.

SECOND

Eat Healthily. Eating junk food is found to be one of the prime causes of obesity. Instead, load up on vegetables, fruits, whole grains and reduce your sugar intake.

THIRD

Exercise. Regular exercise does not only help you stay fit, but it will also improve your self-esteem. It releases happy chemicals in the brain that makes you feel good about yourself.

FOURTH

Focus on your positive traits. We tend to dwell more on our failures than successes. If you are unhappy with your size, body shape, or weight, shift your attention to other beautiful characteristics about you, your strengths, skills, and admirable qualities.

Body positivity is as simple as making the choice to love your body despite your shortcomings—to embrace your whole self and not let others dictate how you feel about your body – Paige Fieldsted

You! Yes, You! You Deserve All the Love

You! Yes, You! You Deserve All the Love

Why are you so uncomfortable about what makes you so powerful? For many people, the concept of self-love might bring up images of cheesy self-care books, or binge-watching your favorite series on Netflix. But as many psychologists attest, self-love and compassion are the keys to good health and mental well-being.
Most of the time when you are too hard on yourself, you need to know this; the persecutory inner voice that prevents you from celebrating your little wins and showing yourself a daily dose of self-love is the hallmark of perfectionism.

Use these four keys to improve on self-love:
#1 Self-Care
You deserve all the love and attention. It produces positive feelings and boosts your self-esteem. Taking care of yourself is also an important reminder to yourself and others that you and your needs are important.
#2 Self-Confidence
Embracing your self-confidence radiates a natural beauty that cannot be diluted or ignored. You need to love and celebrate yourself no matter what because even if you don’t fit into society’s standard, you are still awesome regardless. This is what makes you powerful, absolutely fearless, and comfortable in your skin.
#3 Self-Worth
Accepting the uniqueness of your self-worth is magical, and it starts with you. Whenever you have negative thoughts, turn them into positive affirmations. Say them with full conviction, and you will see changes in how you feel and act.
#4 Self-Control
Being in control is vital to achieving the goals you have set for yourself. It gives you inner strength and the ability to stick to your decisions.

Self-love is not being selfish. It is simply learning how to prioritize your happiness.

Uh-oh, Are You the Only One?

Uh-oh, Are You the Only One?

Have you ever heard of “the more the merrier”? Some agree with that notion…especially in regards to mental wellness. In some mental health scenarios, positive support is conductive to your well-being.

Harvard Business Review agrees that being the only causes anxiety.

Listen to the podcast -> -> -> The Anxiety of Being the “Only”

Let’s view the benefit of contradicting the only phenomenon. Think about the more, the crowded in a professional setting. And the more there is the less likely you will be to get the promotions, bonuses or vacation time you want. In most cases, saturation is a hindrance.

But when looking at the only through a positive lens, the only can mean unique. Being the only in the workplace can open opportunities you need to the promotion, vacations and bonuses of your dreams. Why? Because you can be the one who possess certain qualities that could possibly land the deal of a lifetime for a corporation. You will stand out because no Fortune 500 company wants ordinary.

Here’s to Boosting Your Only!

1.       Self-esteem
Let setbacks serve as comebacks. When you make a mistake, own it! Then correct it and move forward with the lesson learned. Not many are able to make it through the mistake.
2.       Self-Worth
Let the mistakes of others serve as validation that you are on the right track. Learn from others. Your self-worth lies within how others are fairly compared to you.
3.       Self-Love
Only focus on the only when you are connecting with your inner self. Your true identity is more than outside influences and circumstances. Treat yourself like you are the only one that matters without being selfish and conceited.
